Good news! The Philippine Social Security System has recently opened a facility to apply for an SSS Number at the comfort of your home. Here are the step by step instruction on how to get an SSS Number Online.
But before applying for your SSS Number, here are the few reminders that you need to know:
- You will need an email address because your a confirmation link will be sent to your email to proceed. A copy of your SS Number Application will also be sent in your email.
- Accomplish the online form correctly. Incorrect information entered in your registration may cause a difficulty in filing/claiming of benefits in the future.
- The SS Number that will be issued online is tagged as Temporary. You need to go to any SSS branch near you to submit your required supporting documents. This means that the SS Number can only be used for:
- Contribution payment and employee reporting by the employer
- Submission of required documents for conversion of Membership Status from Temporary to Permanent.
- Availment of SSS loans and benefits (subject to qualifying conditions) and UMID Card Application (provided applicant has one(1) posted contributions) shall be allowed only for Permanent Membership Status.
When going to any SSS Branch to submit your required documents and convert your membership status to Permanent, you need to:
- Print your SS Number Slip, a copy is sent to your email just in case you did not download a copy of your SS Number Slip.
- Bring one(1) Primary Documents and any two(2) of the Secondary Documents (see list here) together with the SSS Number slip.
- If married, bring a copy of your Marriage Contract
- If has child/ren, also bring a copy of the child/ren’s Birth Certificate
- For Non-Working Spouse, your working spouse must sign before his/her name on the printed Personal Record Form. The signature of your working spouse signifies that he/she agrees with your SSS Membership.

- Go to www.sss.gov.ph and find the “No SS Number Yet?” picture on the lower part of the home page. Or you can click this link for short cut.
- Applicant Record verification page will show. Type your correct Surname, Given name, Middle Name and Extension Name (e.g Jr, Sr, I, II), if any. If you do not have a middle name, simply click the Last Name and First Name radio button. Put your Date of Birth and a valid and active email address. Fill in the Word Verification and click Submit.
- A link will be sent to your email. Check also your Spam folder, the SS Email contains a link so it has a chance that your email provider might consider it as spam. Click the link or copy and paste it to your browser. Link will redirect you to encoding of your other information. All information with red asterisk on the side are mandatory. The Confirmation link will expire after 5 days.
- The Encode Basic Information page will ask the applicant of his/her gender, Mother’s Maiden Name, Contact Information (Telephone No is not required), Address and Purpose of Application.
- If the Address section, Check if your address is Manila or Provincial. From the selected Province/City, the system will automatically enumerate Cities/Municipalities/Barangay under it.
- For the purpose of application:
- If you are applying for SS Number as compliance to your employment requirements, click the For Employment option.
- If you are not employed but rather Self Employed (you have your own business like Sari Sari Store, Ukay shop or you are a professional practitioner like doctor, lawyer, consultant), then choose the Self Employed option. Input your Business/Profession and your estimated monthly earning. Your declared Monthly earning will be the basis of your SS Premium computation.
- If you are an Overseas Filipino Worker, then choose the option. There is also another option after OFW if you are interested in the SSS Flexi fund.
- if you are a Non- Working Spouse, then you may choose this option. You need to input your Spouse correct SS Number and his/her estimated monthly earning. The Spouse monthly earning should not be less than P2,000.00. SS Premium of a Non Working Spouse is half of the declared Earning or paid premium of the spouse.
- On the next page, you will be asked to put your Nationality, Marital Status and Religion. If your religion is not on the list, you can select Others and put your Religion on the Other Religion text field. Fill in also your Place of Birth. Like the Address section of the previous page, selected City/Provinces will automatically enumerate Municipalities/Barangay under it. Click Next to continue.
- Encode Beneficiaries page will show.
- Fill in your Father’s Name on the appropriate field. If Father’s name is unknown, click the Father is Unknown checkbox.
- If Single, system will automatically disable spouse name. If Marital Status is Married, Fill in Spouse Name.
- If Applicant is Male and his religion is Muslim, an Add button in the Spouse Name can be seen. Applicant can declare up to four spouse.
- Fill in Child/ren information with their birth date. Date of Birth of child must not earlier or equal to the date of birth of applicant.
- Fill in Beneficiaries Name, if any and their relation to the application.
- Click Next and you will see the Review page. If there is a wrong entry, you can simply click Previous and go to the page where the erroneous entry is located. If all entry is correct, click Generate SS Number button.
- Voila! Your SS Number is already shown in the screen. Click the Print SS Number Slip to print your SS Number Slip. The SS Number Slip contains your SS Number, Name and Date of Birth. Printing of Personal Record form is optional, as written in the reminder below the page.
- If it happens that you forgot to print your SS Number Slip, check your email because a copy of your SS Number Slip is also sent to you.
- Go to your nearest SS Branch and bring the required documents and your SS Number slip so that your membership with SSS will become permanent.

Hi Boomba, you can obtain a copy of your Personal Record Form on nearest SSS Branch. All SSS Numbers obtained thru the SSS Website is considered temporary, so you need to go the SSS Branch and submit your required documents! Hope this helps
